A Journey That Started with a Baby and a Bad Meal

We are Puja and MJ — a working couple based in Singapore, just like many of you. We live here, work here, and are raising our family here. But a part of us has always belonged to India — to our parents, our friends, and the city we call home: Delhi.

Our story began in 2016, when we were blessed with our little one. Between office deadlines, sleepless nights, and managing the household, Puja found herself turning to "quick, healthy" meal services in Singapore. Months later, after spending over SGD 1,300 on food that was tasteless, uninspiring, and anything but nourishing — something snapped.

"Healthy eating shouldn't feel like a punishment. It shouldn't be boring, overpriced, or something you endure. It should be food you actually love."

That frustration sent us down a rabbit hole — researching the food industry not just in Singapore, but back home in India. And what we found deeply disturbed us as parents and as people who care.

🔍 What We Discovered — And Why It Still Keeps Us Up at Night

  • 🚨 Paneer — sold as fresh, often made with synthetic milk solids, harmful chemicals, and cheap non-dairy substitutes.
  • 🚨 Milk & Ghee — diluted, adulterated, or mixed with vanaspati and palm oil. Yet marketed as "pure" and "desi".
  • 🚨 Everyday packaged foods — loaded with preservatives, artificial colours, and hidden sugars that slowly erode health.
  • 🚨 Restaurant meals — reheated, over-salted, made from cheap oil, presented as "healthy" options.

We were not just worried for ourselves. We worried for our parents back in Delhi trusting brands blindly. For our friends eating out daily with no time to cook. For every student, working couple, homemaker, and elderly person trying to stay healthy in a food system that is, too often, quietly working against them.

We Are Still Here. Build & Blend Is Already There.

Living in Singapore, we have seen what truly good food infrastructure looks like — ingredient traceability, visible hygiene standards, honest nutritional labelling, and a genuine culture of wellness. We witnessed how diverse communities could eat clean, eat joyfully, and never have to choose between flavour and health.

We didn't wait to move back to Delhi to change things. We built Build & Blend from here — because the need was urgent, the gap was real, and our families back home deserved better now. Every recipe crafted, every ingredient sourced, every standard set — done with Singapore precision and Indian soul.
